Kam and Julio opted for their couple’s shoot to be doing what they most love; hanging out by the beach, rolling around in the sand, and enjoying the sunset from a surfboard in the ocean. I had the opportunity to photograph this young couple on the island of Maui in Hawaii. We had a virgin beach all for ourselves at the best time of the day; sundown. This shoot is close to my heart because it shows what I’m willing to do to keep the people I photograph happy. In this case I got into the ocean, with Kam and Julio to get intimate with them on the surfboard
I really do prefer to photograph wherever you want doing whatever you want, even though logistics get harder. I’m never one to shy away from a great challenge. If you want to get married at a remote location I’m up for it. It is exciting for me to see you play out the reality in your life, and want me to photograph it. Kam and Julio surf every day, they live on the beach and Hawaii is part of their roots. Nothing shows me more about the world than this; I see what moves you, what you’re passionate about, what keeps you grinding through the lens and I learn.
